Karla Grandy is an Utah-based visual artist and BFA student at Brigham Young University. Born in Seoul, South Korea, Grandy’s upbringing took her across the world, instilling a unique perspective on identity and her surroundings. Her work is primarily photo and sculpture-based and explores the exchanged between the absence and presence of space.

Her work has been shown in the BYU Annual Student Exhibition of 2024. Karla has been the recipient of several university awards including the Cory N. Belleau Award (2023 & 2024), 2D Talent Award (2023 & 2024) and the J. Roman Andrus Award (2024). Her solo show, will open in the spring of 2025.

Through my art, I examine the concepts of lost and found information in a world of constant change. My work is motivated by the complexities and textures of our everyday environments. I seek to highlight specific places or objects that might otherwise be overlooked.
